Central Government Subsidy Distribution Scam; Postal Department Issues Warning

Attempt of online fraud by spreading fake messages claiming that government subsidies are being distributed through the Postal Department. Fraudsters are circulating a website link through social media platforms, including WhatsApp, pretending it to be genuine information from India Post, claiming to distribute central government subsidies.

The scam works like this: When the user clicks on the website link, a page appears displaying India Post’s logo and images. Believing it to be a message from the Postal Department, users fill in the requested information. After that, they are asked to click on images shown on the website to claim a reward. Upon doing this, users are informed that they have won a huge cash prize or a car. Following this, they receive a message instructing them to share the provided link with either four WhatsApp groups or 20 WhatsApp contacts to claim the reward.

Following this, they will ask for details such as your bank account, Aadhaar card, photo, and phone number. Once these details are shared, the scammers demand a processing charge or registration fee, taking money from the victims as part of the fraud scheme. Through this method, scammers take control of your phone or computer and withdraw money from your account. Following several complaints from victims who lost money after falling into this trap, the Postal Department has issued a warning.
