Renjini RamachandranFirefighters are struggling to control the rapidly spreading wildfire due to a lack of water. The incident occurred in Los Angeles, USA. Local authorities are in distress as water has run out in many of the fire hydrants in the affected areas, leaving them uncertain about what to do next. According to a report by the Los Angeles Times, the lack of sufficient water to extinguish the spreading fire is leading to a serious crisis in the region .
The crisis was caused by the excessive withdrawal of water in a short period to extinguish the fire. Many water hydrants in the wildfire-affected Pacific Palisades area are either non-functional or have run out of water. The storage capacity of the tanks in this area is one million gallons. According to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, water consumption is increasing fourfold every 15 hours. The crisis has deepened due to the lack of sufficient water, concerns from the authorities that excessive consumption will affect the groundwater supply, and the closure of a water reservoir in the area for maintenance work.
