Missing persons will be considered dead; major decision in Wayanad landslide disaster.

The state government has decided to consider missing persons as dead. This crucial decision was made regarding those who went missing in the Wayanad landslide disaster. Even four months after the landslide at Chooralmala Mundakkai, 32 people remain untraceable.

A few days ago, the central government declared the Wayanad landslide as a disaster of extreme severity. This recognition came after Kerala's continuous requests. However, there is still no decision regarding the announcement of special financial assistance to Kerala. Two committees have been formed for financial assistance to the deceased. For further actions, both a local committee and a state-level committee will be formed. The local committee will first prepare the list of the deceased. It has been clarified in the central government's letter that funds have already been transferred to the Disaster Relief Fund, and in the case of an extreme disaster, financial assistance will be provided from the SDRF (State Disaster Response Fund).
