Periya double murder case: CPM fundraising again; members asked to contribute ₹500 each.

Renjini RamachandranIn the Periya double murder case, the CPM is once again raising funds for legal battles. Each member has been directed to contribute ₹500. It has also been suggested that those working in party-controlled cooperative institutions should contribute a day's salary. The CPM had arranged a grand reception for the leaders who were released from jail. The sentences of four CPM leaders, including K.V. Kunhiraman, were recently suspended.
The High Court has stayed the execution of the sentences of K. Manikandan, a member of the CPM Kasaragod district committee, K.V. Kunjiraman, the 20th accused and former Uduma MLA as well as a district secretariat member, Raghavan Veluthatholi, the 21st accused, and K.V. Bhaskaran, the 22nd accused.
