Bank robbery in Karnataka again; Gold and around ₹12 crore stolen.

Renjini RamachandranBank robberies are becoming frequent in Karnataka. The latest robbery occurred at the Kotekar Cooperative Bank in Mangaluru. Gold and cash worth around ₹12 crore were stolen. The thieves escaped with the loot in five bags. The major robbery took place on Friday at the Kotekar Co-operative Society on KC Road in Ullal Taluk, Mangaluru.
A technician had arrived at the bank to repair the CCTV cameras, which were not functioning. The robbery took place while the cameras were undergoing maintenance. It is believed that the robbers targeted the bank after realizing that the cameras inside were not operational.The gang consisted of six members. Five years ago, the same bank was robbed. At that time, weapons like guns and knives were used. In this case, the robbers only used guns to carry out the heist.
On Thursday, a bank robbery also occurred in Bidar. Around ₹93 lakh, brought to load into an SBI ATM, was stolen by assailants who arrived on a bike. In the incident, a security guard was shot and killed.
