In the U.S., women have an 82% higher likelihood of developing cancer compared to men.

A study has found that women in the U.S. have an 82% higher likelihood of developing cancer than men. The American Cancer Society (ACS) conducted a new study showing that cancer cases among women aged 50 to 64 surpass those in men.

Although a clear understanding of the reasons for the increase in cancer among women is yet to be reached, findings suggest that factors such as obesity, genetic causes, and environmental issues contribute to the risk of cancer. Dr. Arif Kamal, the Chief Patient Officer of the ACS, states that obesity has been identified as a cause of cancer in 13 different cases, while alcohol consumption has been found to contribute to cancer in seven cases. Studies on the loss of 22 minutes of life expectancy due to smoking are also gaining attention, following the rise in cancer among women.
