Night-time thefts are becoming frequent at petrol pumps. In Kottayam, three consecutive thefts have occurred in the past week. The incidents took place at three pumps in the area between Kaduthuruthy and Ettumanoor. A two-member gang, arriving on a bike with their faces covered, is carrying out the thefts at night. Following these incidents, pump owners have demanded increased security.

Apart from these incidents, similar thefts have occurred in other areas as well, and all of them follow the same pattern, according to pump owners. Such incidents have been reported not only in Kottayam district but also in other districts. Given the increasing frequency of thefts, pump owners demand that the government take necessary steps to ensure security. A letter has been sent to all MLAs in the state, raising this concern.
