"Indian-Origin Man Shot Dead While Making Food Delivery in New Haven

A 26-year-old man from Hamden, Raviteja Koyyada, tragically lost his life on January 19 while delivering food in the Newhallville area of New Haven. Koyyada, a delivery driver for a Chinese restaurant, was found unresponsive at the intersection of Shepard and Goodrich Streets after responding to a 911 call at 3:58 p.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered he had been shot and rushed him to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities revealed that Koyyada was shot while making a delivery to a home on Shepard Street. His vehicle was stolen after the incident but was soon abandoned nearby. No arrests have been made in relation to the shooting, and the police are urging anyone with information to come forward.

Koyyada’s death was confirmed by the Consulate General of India in New York on January 20. The consulate is assisting his family with the repatriation of his body. Originally from Telangana, India, Koyyada had arrived in the U.S. in 2022 to pursue his master’s degree.

The investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
