The event was attended by over 65 members and guests who came together to honor India's democratic traditions and cultural heritage.
The celebration began with a solemn flag hoisting ceremony, followed by the singing of the Indian and U.S. national anthems. This set the tone for a day filled with reflection on the sacrifices made by India's leaders and freedom fighters, who laid the foundation for the world's largest democracy. The event emphasized the shared connection to India and the unity of the Indian American community, underscoring values of peace, inclusivity, and social service.
President Tandon welcomed the Chief Guest, Hon. Ragini Srivastava, Town Clerk of North Hempstead, praising her leadership and dedication to the Indian American community. He acknowledged her efforts in fostering cultural ties and strengthening the relationship between local government and the community.
Hon. Ragini Srivastava addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of India's Constitution and the unity in diversity that Republic Day represents. She also unfurled the Indian flag and honored several individuals with citations for their exceptional contributions to the community.
