Deported from the U.S., Amritsar Youth’s Return Sparks Mixed Emotions in Family
Amritsar: The return of 23-year-old Akashdeep Singh, a resident of Rajatal village in Amritsar district, has left his family grappling with both relief and sorrow. He was among the first group of deported migrants who arrived in India from the United States on February 5.
His father, Swaran Singh, shared the emotional moment with New India Abroad, saying, “We were informed by Punjab police officials that my son, Akashdeep Singh, has been deported from the U.S. and will be landing at Amritsar airport in the afternoon.” His voice, heavy with emotion, reflected the family's mixed feelings—while they were relieved to have him back safely, the setback also brought disappointment and uncertainty.
Akashdeep’s family had pinned their hopes and invested heavily in his dream of securing a better future overseas. However, his unexpected deportation has now left them worried about the road ahead.
