Disagreement with Capitalist Economic Development Policies; The Left Has Started Adopting Capitalist Policies Acceptable to Tharoor" – Geevarghese Coorilos
Geevarghese Coorilos has responded to MP Dr. Shashi Tharoor’s article. In a Facebook post, he stated that as a socialist and a Left sympathizer, he disagrees with Tharoor’s capitalist economic development policies.

He argued that if Tharoor, who strongly advocates capitalist economic policies, were to praise the development policies of a Left government, there could only be two possible reasons: either Tharoor has ideologically shifted towards the Left (which he believes is highly unlikely), or the Left has started adopting capitalist policies in a manner acceptable to Tharoor. He concluded that the latter is what appears to be happening.

"I admire Shashi Tharoor as a writer and thinker. However, as a socialist and a Left sympathizer, I disagree with his capitalist economic development policies. In this context, there has been much debate over his recent statements.

If Tharoor, who firmly follows capitalist economic policies, praises the development approach of a Left government, there are only two possible explanations. Either Tharoor has ideologically moved towards the Left—something no one considers a real possibility—or the Left has begun adopting capitalist policies in a way that Tharoor finds acceptable.

I believe the latter is what is happening. My criticism of the current mainstream Left is precisely this shift towards right-wing tendencies."
