The incident took place in Nagamangala, Mandya, Karnataka. The victim, 4-year-old Abhijith, was the child of migrant workers from West Bengal. The tragedy occurred around 5:45 PM at a poultry farm in Nagamangala.

The first bullet struck the 4-year-old in the stomach, while the second hit his mother’s leg. Due to excessive bleeding, the child died on the spot. His mother was rushed to a nearby hospital and admitted to the intensive care unit.

Following the incident, the police took a 15-year-old boy, also a migrant worker from West Bengal, into custody. The farm owners had stored a gun in their room and had left it outside before stepping away. During this time, the 15-year-old, who worked at a nearby farm, entered the area. Seeing the unattended firearm, he picked it up to inspect it and accidentally pulled the trigger, leading to two shots being fired.
