Wayanad Kampamala Arson Case: Accused Ran Into Elephant Herd After Crime
After setting fire to the forest in Wayanad's Kampamala, the accused fled straight into a herd of elephants. The dramatic arrest of Sudheesh was carried out by forest department officials. As he ran into the elephant herd in an attempt to escape, those chasing him narrowly avoided a disaster.

Forest officials, led by the DFO, launched a search after realizing that someone had deliberately set fire to the area. It was during this operation that they tracked down Sudheesh. The accused has multiple cases against him, including one for illegally cultivating cannabis.

The police and forest officials apprehended Sudheesh, a native of Muthumari, on Monday evening. The fire destroyed 12 hectares of forest land, and firefighting efforts are still underway. Authorities had earlier expressed suspicion that this was not a natural fire but an act of arson.
