Commandos' Lightning Operation Kept Locals on Edge from Midnight to 4 AM

The incident took place in Kannur, where NSG commandos conducted a lightning operation at the famous Rajarajeshwara Temple and Parassinikadavu Muthappan Temple. The operation was carried out to capture terrorists who allegedly entered the temple premises with explosives.

The sudden operation left the local residents in a state of panic. However, they were relieved when they learned that it was only a mock drill. The NSG team from Chennai conducted the operation from midnight to 4 AM, keeping the locals on high alert. The exercise was part of the security preparations ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the Rajarajeshwara Temple in Thaliparamba. A team of 150 National Security Guard (NSG) personnel conducted the security check.

The mock drill simulated a scenario where terrorists infiltrated the Rajarajeshwara Temple compound, and the NSG team neutralized them. The exercise also included an operation at the Parassinikadavu Muthappan Temple, where the remaining terrorists were captured after seeking refuge there.

The Prime Minister is expected to visit the temple for the unveiling of India’s tallest bronze statue of Lord Shiva. The statue, installed within the temple premises, was recently inspected by officials from the Central Archaeological Department.
