Localization: Kuwait's Ministry of Commerce's decision poses a setback for expatriates, including Indians

The Ministry of Commerce has announced a decision that poses a setback for expatriates in Kuwait, including Indians. As part of the Kuwait government's ongoing localization process aimed at creating more employment opportunities for local citizens, the ministry has decided to stop hiring foreign employees.

This decision not only applies to the Ministry of Commerce but also extends to all government agencies affiliated with the ministry. Commerce and Industry Minister Khalifa Al-Ajeel declared that non-Kuwaitis would no longer be recruited for jobs in these institutions.

In an official statement, the Ministry of Commerce clarified that this move is part of a broader national effort to localize jobs in the public sector. The decision is based on Resolution No. 11 of 2017 issued by the Civil Service Commission, which outlines the laws and procedures for the Kuwaitization of government jobs.
