Maha Shivaratri Celebrations and Traffic Regulations in Aluva
Hindu devotees are celebrating Maha Shivaratri today. The festival is observed on the Chaturdashi (14th day) of the Malayalam month of Kumbham. According to Hindu beliefs, observing a fast on this day leads to liberation from past sins.

Traffic Restrictions in Aluva
In connection with Maha Shivaratri, traffic restrictions will be in place from 4 PM on February 26 to 2 PM on February 27, including on the national highway passing through Aluva. A 1,500-member police team, led by Rural SP Vaibhav Saxena, including 12 DYSPs and 30 Inspectors, will be on duty.
From 8 PM on February 26, vehicular movement will be prohibited on Palace Road, from Bank Junction to Mahatma Gandhi Town Hall.

Special Train Services & Additional Stops
The railway department has announced special trains and additional stops for passengers traveling to Aluva for Maha Shivaratri:

Train No. 16325 Nilambur – Kottayam Express will have additional stops at Mullurkara, Ollur, Nellayi, and Koratti.
Train No. 56605 Shoranur – Thrissur Passenger, arriving at Thrissur at night, will be extended up to Aluva.
The extended train will depart from Thrissur at 11:15 PM, stopping at:
Ollur (11:24 PM)
Puthukad (11:34 PM)
Nellayi (11:40 PM)
Irinjalakuda (11:47 PM)
Chalakudy (11:55 PM)
Divine Nagar (11:59 PM)
Koratti (12:04 AM)
Karukutty (12:09 AM)
Angamaly (12:17 AM)
Chovvara (12:26 AM)
Aluva (12:45 AM)
Return Train Schedule
On Thursday morning (Feb 27), Train No. 16609 Thrissur – Kannur Express will depart from Aluva at 5:15 AM, stopping at:

Chovvara (5:23 AM)
Angamaly (5:30 AM)
Karukutty (5:36 AM)
Koratti (5:41 AM)
Divine Nagar (5:46 AM)
Chalakudy (5:50 AM)
Irinjalakuda (5:59 AM)
Nellayi (6:08 AM)
Puthukad (6:14 AM)
Ollur (6:24 AM)
The train will reach Thrissur at 6:45 AM and then continue its journey to Kannur as per its regular schedule. Additional stops will also be provided at Mullurkara and Vallathol Nagar.
