Voice messages from an Instagram group chat have surfaced following the tragic death of a student during a clash in Thamarassery, Kozhikode. These messages reportedly contain statements from students involved in the violent incident.

The deceased has been identified as Muhammad Shahbaz (15), a student of Elettil MJ Higher Secondary School. One of the shocking voice messages states, "If we said we would kill Shahbaz, we would have killed him. Go and look at his eyes, he has no eyes." Another student is heard saying, "Even if someone dies in a group fight, it doesn’t matter; the police won’t register a case." The conversation continues with students asserting that no case would be filed, and it would eventually be dismissed.

These revelations provide strong evidence that the attack on Muhammad Shahbaz was premeditated.

Reports indicate that social media was used to incite the attack. The voice messages were shared in an Instagram group chat belonging to students of Elettil Vattoli Higher Secondary School. The messages urged students to gather near a tuition center to retaliate.

The Origin of the Conflict
The violent incident stemmed from a dispute during a farewell event at a private tuition center near the old bus stand in Thamarassery. During the event, students of Elettil Vattoli MJ Higher Secondary School were performing a couple dance, when the music was suddenly stopped. In response, students from Thamarassery Higher Secondary School reportedly booed and mocked them. This led to an argument between the two groups.

Teachers intervened immediately, stopping the program and dispersing the students. However, later that evening, a group of students from MGM School gathered and reached Thamarassery, escalating the situation. This resulted in a major clash, during which Shahbaz, a 10th-grade student, sustained critical injuries.
