"In some movies, murders are celebrated as brutal entertainment; this awakens the violent nature in humans," says Premkumar.

State Film Academy Chairman Premkumar Criticizes Increasing Violence in Films
State Film Academy Chairman Premkumar has expressed concerns over the rising depiction of violence in films. He pointed out that some new films are exploring extreme portrayals of violence, which, in turn, awaken the violent tendencies in human beings. Premkumar made these remarks during a film award distribution ceremony.

“The recent incidents happening around us are truly shocking. It is difficult to understand how such extreme violent scenes are granted screening permission,” Premkumar said.

"Many films completely awaken the violent instincts in humans. They bring out the dormant wildness and brutal tendencies within people. Murders are being celebrated as a form of cruel entertainment. I am referring to certain films, and they are heading in a dangerous direction," he stated.

Premkumar acknowledged that there is a censoring system in place, which provides some reassurance. However, he questioned how certain films manage to bypass these regulations and still receive screening approval.

"Even though we have mechanisms to monitor, evaluate, and regulate such content, some new filmmakers seem to find fascination in presenting cruelty and gruesome visuals in an extreme manner. It is surprising how these films manage to overcome the censoring process and get screening permission," Premkumar added.

He also expressed dissatisfaction with certain television programs, stating that the themes need innovation and improvement.
