The Vatican has announced that Pope Francis' health has deteriorated severely, and he was placed on mechanical ventilation today. According to the Vatican, his respiratory condition suddenly worsened, necessitating the use of a ventilator.

The Vatican further revealed that vomit entered the Pope's lungs while coughing, which was later removed. However, the resulting breathing difficulties have significantly worsened his condition. Doctors have stated that he will require 24 to 48 hours of close monitoring. Despite this, the Vatican clarified that Pope Francis is conscious and cooperating with the treatment.

Earlier, he had been diagnosed with a polymicrobial infection, for which he was receiving specialized therapy. Pope Francis had previously undergone lung surgery at the age of 21 due to pleurisy, which increases his susceptibility to recurrent lung infections. In recent years, he has also undergone colon surgery and hernia surgery.
