16-Month-Old Becomes Odisha’s Youngest Organ Donor, Giving New Life to Two People

A 16-month-old baby has become the youngest organ donor in Odisha. Baby Janmesh Lenka bid farewell to the world while giving new life to two individuals.

Janmesh was admitted to the hospital on February 12 due to a respiratory illness. Despite doctors' efforts, including CPR and intensive care treatment, his condition did not improve. After two weeks of struggle, Janmesh passed away last Saturday.

Hospital authorities discussed the possibility of organ donation with his parents. Despite their immense grief, they agreed to donate Janmesh’s organs. His liver was donated to children undergoing treatment at ILBS in New Delhi, while his kidneys were donated to another child receiving treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar."
