Hid the fact that he was married and got into a relationship; Friend arrested in connection with the suicide of Kozhikode Law College student Maus Mehrisi (20) who was in hiding.

A male friend has been taken into custody in connection with the suicide of a Government Law College student. Chevayoor Police took into custody the friend of the deceased, Maus Mehrisi (20), a native of Pavaratty, Thrissur. He was arrested from Vythiri.

The young man had hidden the fact that he was married while being in a relationship with the girl. After she found out about his marriage, she ended her life.

Maus got acquainted with Alfaan, a native of Kovoor, while working part-time at a shop near the law college. As their relationship grew, she quit her job. Later, the young man restricted her interactions with others.

On February 24, Maus Mehrisi, a native of Thrissur, was found hanging in her residence in Kovoor. As there were no other injuries on the body, the police concluded that it was a case of suicide.

The same day Maus’ family received a phone call informing them that Alfaan was married and a father. After this, Maus took the extreme step. Alfaan himself had sent the phone record of this call to her. Following an argument with Maus, he went to her residence, took possession of her phone, and went into hiding.

Alfaan was taken into custody by Chevayoor Police from Vythiri in Wayanad.

Maus’ phone has not yet been recovered, and the police are looking to see if they can get any information from Alfaan regarding it. Maus had last visited her home in Thrissur on February 15 and returned to her hostel on February 17. She had informed her family that she would return home again before March 13 as part of her study leave.
