Must marry the survivor within 3 months'; Bail granted to the accused in a rape case with conditions

The Allahabad High Court granted bail to an accused in a rape case on the condition that he marries the survivor within three months. The accused not only committed rape but also exploited the woman by leaking her pictures online.

The 26-year-old accused, a native of Rajasthan, met the survivor last year at a training center for the police recruitment exam. According to the complaint filed by the woman’s family in May 2024, he had sexually assaulted her multiple times since February.

Following the complaint, the police registered a case and arrested the accused in September. On October 3, the Agra Sessions Court denied him bail, after which he approached the High Court.

The prosecution argued that the accused lured the woman by promising her a job in the Uttar Pradesh Police. Furthermore, he blackmailed her by threatening to release videos of them together and extorted ₹9 lakh from her.
