Prime Minister Modi Recalls Moments with Trump at the 'Howdy Modi' Event in the U.S.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi reminisced about his time with President Donald Trump at the 'Howdy Modi' event held in the United States. Modi shared these memories during an interview with Lex Fridman, an American podcaster and AI researcher. Reflecting on the event held in Houston years ago, Modi described it as an unforgettable experience.
"'Howdy Modi' was an event with a massive gathering of Indian-Americans," Modi said, adding that it was a moment he could never forget in his life. After his speech, Modi suggested to Trump that they walk together around the stadium and greet the attendees.
Given the large crowd, tight security measures were in place. Modi highlighted that it is uncommon for a U.S. President to walk through such a massive audience, but Trump agreed to his request and walked alongside him. "We walked together, breaking all protocols, and that moment felt deeply emotional. His courage was evident through that act," Modi said.
Modi also recalled an incident during Trump’s election campaign when he was shot. "Even in that difficult moment, I saw the same courage in him as I did when he walked hand in hand with me. He stood fearlessly for America, dedicating his life to the nation," Modi remarked.
"For me, India comes first—always. And it is the same for him when it comes to his country. Our shared love for our nations is what unites us," the Prime Minister added.
