New York: The 11th International Media Conference organized by the India Press Club of North America (IPCNA), an association of Malayali journalists across North America, will take place on October 9, 10, and 11, 2025, at the Edison Sheraton Hotel in New Jersey.
A memorandum of understanding regarding the conference was signed by Jassi Singh, General Manager of the Sheraton Hotel, Shijo Paulose, National Secretary of IPCNA, and Sunil Tristar, the organization's President. Journalists, socio-cultural leaders, community representatives, and business leaders from across the United States visited the venue to discuss preparations for the event. The conference will be hosted by the New York Chapter of IPCNA, led by President Sholi Kumbiluveli, Secretary Jojo Kottarakkara, Treasurer Binu Thomas, and other key office bearers.
Edison, known for having an Indian population exceeding 30 percent, is considered a prime location for the conference. The city's mayor, Sam Joshi, is also of Indian descent. The venue is conveniently located just 20 minutes from Newark International Airport, making it accessible for attendees from various parts of the country. This 11th conference is anticipated to be a significant milestone in the history of the Malayalam Journalists Association in the United States.
Since its inception in 2006, the International Media Conference has grown significantly in scale and influence. The first conference featured Thomas Jacob, the editorial director of Malayala Manorama, as the keynote speaker. This year's event will continue the tradition of fostering discussions on the Malayalam media sector and inspiring journalists in America. Prominent figures from mainstream media and politics in Kerala are expected to participate in the conference. Previously, New Jersey has hosted the conference three times, each attracting a large audience due to its proximity to the tri-state area and Washington, D.C.
Several prominent members of the media and community, including IPCNA Vice President Anilkumar Aranmula, former president George Joseph, former treasurer George Thumbayil, and Philadelphia Chapter President Arun Kovat, were present at the venue visit. Other notable attendees included media professionals, socio-cultural leaders, and representatives from organizations such as Phokana and Phoma. This year's platinum event and main sponsors are Sajan Varghese and Mini Sajan, owners of Saj Earth Resort.
IPCNA President Sunil Tristar emphasized the organization's commitment to delivering exceptional conferences and expressed confidence that this year's event will uphold that tradition. National Secretary Shijo Paulose highlighted the success of the Madhyamasree, Madhyamaarthana, Pioneer, and Media Excellence Awards ceremony held at the Gokulam Convention Centre in Kochi earlier this year, noting the positive response despite some criticisms. The awards event, held alongside major television channel ceremonies in Kerala, received widespread appreciation.
Advisory Board Chairman Sunil Thaimattom and President-elect (2026-27) Raju Pallathu revealed that the upcoming conference will feature innovative programs aimed at benefiting journalists across the United States. Final preparations are underway, and a dedicated website for hotel booking and registration will be launched soon. Treasurer Visakh Cherian, Joint Secretary Asha Mathew, and Joint Treasurer Roy Mulakunnam confirmed the participation of senior journalists and political leaders from Kerala.
