Bullet Fried in a Pan in Kochi; Disaster Narrowly Averted

An investigation is underway after a bullet exploded while being heated in a pan. The Kochi City Police Commissioner has sought a report on the incident, which occurred on the 10th of this month in the kitchen of the Ernakulam Armed Reserve (AR) Camp. A major disaster was narrowly avoided in the densely populated area with many homes and businesses nearby.

City Police Commissioner Putta Vimaladitya has ordered an investigation against Reserve Sub-Inspector Sajeev, who was responsible for the camp's armory. The bullets involved were blank ammunition, typically used for ceremonial gunfire during official funerals.

The incident occurred while preparing bullets for the funeral of an officer from the Edappally Traffic Station. Normally, the responsible officers heat the ammunition under sunlight before use. However, due to the urgency of the ceremony, the bullets were hastily heated in a pan in the camp mess kitchen.
