Assault and suicide threats; mother hands over drug-addicted son to police

The incident took place in Elathur, Kozhikode, where Rahul, a resident of Elathur, was arrested by the police following a complaint filed by his mother. The complaint was lodged due to frequent disturbances Rahul was causing at home.

According to the mother’s complaint, Rahul had been using drugs for a long time and frequently threatened to kill family members. Rahul lives with his mother, grandmother, sister, and a young child. When he runs out of money to buy drugs, he demands it from the family. If they refuse to give him money, he becomes threatening. The mother stated that Rahul had repeatedly threatened to kill her and also made frequent threats against his grandmother and the child. In addition, he often threatened to commit suicide.

Today, Rahul demanded money again, and when his mother refused to give it, he began to issue threats. Concerned for the family’s safety, she informed the police. When the police arrived, Rahul continued to threaten them, prompting the officers to use force to take him into custody.

The mother also revealed that Rahul had been violent on several occasions in the past. Despite efforts to rehabilitate him through a de-addiction center, the attempts were unsuccessful. Rahul already faces charges related to drug abuse and POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses) cases.
