US Attorney Jessica Aber found dead at home.

Jessica Aber, a former US Attorney who resigned after Donald Trump assumed office as President, was found dead at her home on Saturday. She was the US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia (EDVA). Her body was discovered at her residence in Alexandria, Virginia. Police stated that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of death.

The Alexandria Police Department found Aber’s body around 9:18 a.m. in the 900 block of Beverley Drive. Eric Siebert, the current US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, expressed deep sorrow over her death. "She was an exceptional leader, advisor, and prosecutor. We are amazed by how much she accomplished in such a short time," Siebert said in a statement.

In August 2021, then-President Joe Biden nominated Jessica Aber as the US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia. From 2015 to 2016, Aber served as Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General in the Criminal Division of the Department of Justice. From 2016 until her appointment as US Attorney, she worked as the Deputy Chief of the Criminal Division in the EDVA.
