Ended the relationship; 17-year-old girl set on fire and killed by boyfriend.

A 17-year-old girl was set on fire and killed by her boyfriend after she ended their relationship. The victim, a native of Thoothukudi, was murdered by her former lover, Santosh. According to the police, the girl suffered nearly 65% burns. She succumbed to her injuries at Thoothukudi Medical College Hospital. Santosh and the girl were in a relationship, but after her family opposed it, she decided to withdraw from it.

Her family then relocated her to her grandmother’s house in Keela Nambipuram. However, Santosh continuously followed her, and along with his friend Muthaiya, tried to persuade her to resume the relationship. When she refused, he set her on fire. Santosh and his friend Muthaiya had already been arrested for attempting to kill the girl. Following her death, police have modified the FIR to include murder charges against both. The investigation is ongoing, police officials said.
