Two Malayalis were arrested in connection with an attempted robbery at a financial institution in Mangaluru. The arrested individuals are Murali (55) from Rajamudi, Idukki, and Harshad (30) from Anathale House, Kanhangad. The attempted robbery took place on the night of March 29 near Derlakatte Junction, within the jurisdiction of Konaje Police Station, at a branch of Muthoot Finance.
The burglars triggered the institution's siren while trying to break the locks, prompting the police to arrive at the scene and arrest two suspects, while one managed to escape. Around 3 AM, the accused were attempting to break the branch's door using a drilling machine. When the security alarm went off, an alert was sent to the financial institution’s control room, and Muthoot Finance officials immediately informed the police.
At that time, a Konaje police patrol team was near KS Hegde Hospital. Upon hearing the siren, they rushed to the location. Meanwhile, local residents, alerted by the noise, gathered in large numbers and locked the suspects inside the building. With the help of the locals, the police were able to apprehend the accused. The drilling machine used in the crime was also seized by the police.
