CMRL-Exalogic financial transaction: Union Ministry of Corporate Affairs grants permission to prosecute Veena Vijayan.

The Union Ministry of Corporate Affairs has granted permission to prosecute Veena Vijayan, the daughter of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, in connection with the CMRL-Exalogic financial transaction. The SFIO investigation found that Veena's company, Exalogic, received ₹2.70 crore from CMRL without providing any services.

The Union Ministry of Corporate Affairs is proceeding with further actions, citing suspicions over receiving funds without delivering any service. It will also be examined whether there was corruption involved in this transaction. However, there is no clarity on which agency will handle the investigation. The Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) has already listed Veena as an accused in the charge sheet it prepared, and the charge sheet will be filed soon.

Along with Veena, CMRL MD Sashidharan Kartha and some other officials of CMRL have also been named as accused. The charges against them could lead to imprisonment of up to ten years. The SFIO investigation also found that the list of individuals who received money from CMRL includes leaders of various political parties. Further clarity on the next steps in this case is awaited.
