Saji Cherian is a minister without a conscience; strong criticism from the Fishermen's Federation.

The Kerala Independent Fishermen’s Federation has come out with strong criticism against Fisheries Minister Saji Cherian, accusing him of being a minister without a conscience. The federation reminded the minister that during the floods, fishermen from Chengannur risked their lives to provide assistance, and it was with their help that Saji Cherian rose to power. However, now that they have presented their demands, the minister is turning his back on them, the federation alleged.

The minister had assured that the issue of sand accumulation in Muthalapozhi would be resolved within four days, but the dredging process still remains sluggish. The federation reminded the minister that it was not Adani who was elected to power, but Saji Cherian. With the estuary completely blocked, thousands of fishermen are now facing severe livelihood issues. The minister must act immediately. The federation declared that the response “Adani has to do it” will no longer be accepted. If urgent action is not taken, the people of Muthalapozhi will be forced to explore other options, they warned.

Due to the delay in sand removal at Muthalapozhi, fishermen are migrating to neighboring fishing zones such as Marianad, Puthukurichy, and Anchuthengu.
