Waqf Act amendment; heightened alert in Murshidabad following clashes; Centre ready to deploy more paramilitary forces.

Amid protests against the Waqf Act amendment, high alert has been declared in Murshidabad, West Bengal, following violent clashes. The situation remains tense, and the state government has stated that measures have been taken to prevent the unrest from spreading to other areas. The Centre has informed the state government that it is ready to deploy additional paramilitary forces.
The Union Home Secretary will assess the situation directly. The Calcutta High Court had earlier ordered the deployment of central forces to control the violence. Currently, five companies of BSF personnel have been stationed in the area. In the Murshidabad clashes, three people were killed. One youth was shot during police firing, and a father and son were killed in an attack inside their home in Jafrabad.
Hargovind Das and Chandan Das were attacked in their house. So far, 138 people have been arrested in connection with the violent incidents. Meanwhile, protests against the Waqf Act amendment in Tripura also turned violent. Several police officers were injured during the protest in the Unakoti district.
