Widow murdered and thrown into the Yamuna in Uttar Pradesh; land dealer arrested.

In Etawah, Uttar Pradesh, a 28-year-old widow was strangled to death and her body dumped into the Yamuna River by a land dealer, who has now been arrested. The victim had questioned the accused after paying ₹6 lakh for a plot of land that was never registered in her name. After the murder, the accused, with the help of a friend, disposed of her body in the river.

The victim, Anjali—a mother of two—was killed by Shivendra, also known as Bal, following disputes over the land deal. Anjali had paid Shivendra ₹6 lakh in multiple installments for the land. However, since he failed to register the property, she began demanding her money back.

On April 7, Shivendra lured Anjali to his house, promising to return the money. There, with his friend Gaurav, he gave her alcohol to intoxicate her, then suffocated her to death. Afterwards, they disposed of the body under a bridge over the Yamuna River.

The crime came to light after Anjali’s brother, Kiran, filed a missing person report. During the investigation, her burnt scooter was found, raising suspicion. Shivendra was taken into custody and confessed during interrogation.

The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) was called in to help locate the body in the Yamuna. Following a search operation, Anjali’s body was recovered. Both Shivendra and his friend Gaurav have been officially arrested by the police.
