Congress MP Imran Masood has announced that the newly passed Waqf Amendment Act will be repealed if the Congress party returns to power. His significant statement comes amid ongoing strong protests against the law, which was notified last week. National media have given this news considerable attention.
“The very day we come to power, we will scrap this bill within just one hour. Today, they are targeting Muslims; tomorrow, they will go after someone else. That’s why you should want us to come back to power,” Masood urged the public.
On April 5, after intense debates in both Houses, President Droupadi Murmu gave her assent to the Waqf Amendment Bill. Notably, Congress MP Imran Masood was among the first petitioners to approach the Supreme Court against the legislation.
