Did not pay ₹200 for a puppy; son kills elderly mother with a hammer in Chhattisgarh.

In Raipur, Chhattisgarh, a 45-year-old man killed his 70-year-old mother with a hammer after she refused to give him ₹200 to buy a puppy. His wife was also severely injured in the attack. The accused, Pradeep Devgan, murdered his mother, Ganesh Devi, and assaulted his wife Rameshwari (35), who is currently undergoing treatment with serious injuries.

The couple’s 15-year-old son witnessed the incident and managed to push his father away before running out of the house to alert the neighbors. By the time the neighbors arrived, Ganesh Devi had already succumbed to her injuries. According to locals, Pradeep, who works as an auto-rickshaw driver, was known for causing frequent disturbances at home.

Pradeep has four children — two sons and two daughters — all of whom are minors. Reports suggest that Rameshwari is now out of danger. The police are currently on the lookout for Pradeep, who fled the scene after the crime.
