Seema Haider, the Pakistani woman who came to India to live with her lover after falling in love through the online game PUBG, may now be forced to return to her home country. Following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 people, the Indian central government issued a directive asking all Pakistani nationals to leave the country. As part of the crackdown, all Pakistani visas were cancelled, and strong diplomatic measures were taken against Pakistan.
Although Seema may be affected by this directive, her case involves certain legal complexities that may warrant special consideration, according to Delhi High Court advocate Abubakkar Sabbagh. He noted that the situation largely depends on the stand taken by the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh government. Given that Seema married an Indian man and now has a child, any action against her will be based on reports from the state authorities.
Unlike other Pakistani nationals who arrived in India via formal visa procedures, Seema entered the country illegally through the Nepal border, bypassing standard immigration processes. She has not yet been granted Indian citizenship, which remains under judicial review. Legal experts suggest that under the current directive from the central government, Seema Haider may be forced to leave India.
Previously married to Ghulam Haider in Karachi, Seema crossed into India with her children two years ago to live with her Indian lover, Sachin Meena, a resident of Noida. Since she entered the country illegally, both Seema and Sachin were taken into police custody for illegal stay and providing shelter, respectively. However, a court in Noida later granted them bail.
