Following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Indian cricket team head coach Gautam Gambhir received a death threat. The threat message came under the name of ISIS Kashmir. Gambhir has lodged a complaint with the Delhi Police.
Gambhir had posted a message on social media expressing condolences for the Pahalgam terror attack, which plunged the nation into grief. In his April 22 post, he wrote that he was praying for the victims and called for a strong response from India against those responsible. Soon after, he received two messages saying "I KILL U"—once in the afternoon and again in the evening.
The death threat was issued by ISIS Kashmir, a terror outfit active in the Kashmir region. Gambhir has requested security for himself and his family, and the Delhi Police have intensified their investigation in light of the threat. This is not the first such incident—Gambhir had received a similar threat in 2021 while serving as a Member of Parliament, which had led to enhanced security arrangements.
In addition to Gambhir, cricket legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Shubman Gill, as well as Indian football team captain Sunil Chhetri, have also condemned the Pahalgam terror attack. During yesterday’s IPL and Super Cup matches, players wore black armbands as a mark of mourning.
