Dr. Srinivas Bobby Mukkamala Elected President of the American Medical Association; First Person of Indian Origin in Its 178-Year History

Chicago: Dr. Srinivas "Bobby" Mukkamala has been elected as the 180th President of the American Medical Association (AMA). He holds the distinction of being the first person of Indian origin to attain this prestigious position in the organization’s 178-year history.

Having recently recovered from brain tumor surgery, Dr. Mukkamala affirmed that he will use this personal experience to advocate for a more equitable healthcare system in the United States. Ensuring equal treatment for all in the healthcare sector is his primary goal, he stated.

Additionally, the AMA has approved a new policy aimed at raising public awareness about the health risks of overly processed foods. Under Dr. Mukkamala’s leadership, significant changes are expected in the American healthcare landscape.
