Ahmedabad Plane Crash: Death Toll Rises to 170; Among 242 Onboard Were 11 Children and 2 Infants; Rescue Operations Continue

Ahmedabad: The death toll in the tragic crash of an Air India Boeing 787-8 plane in Ahmedabad has risen to 170, shaking the nation. Reports suggest the number of casualties may still increase. The aircraft, which had taken off from Ahmedabad en route to London, crashed into a residential area shortly after departure.

The Air India flight, which crashed near the Ahmedabad airport, had 242 passengers onboard. Among them, 170 have been confirmed dead. The passenger list included 169 Indian nationals, 53 British citizens, 7 Portuguese, one Canadian, 11 children, and 2 infants. Many others have sustained serious injuries. The plane took off at 1:38 PM and crashed within five minutes. Eyewitnesses reported seeing the aircraft burst into flames and fall from an altitude of approximately 625 feet.

Rescue operations at the crash site are ongoing with full intensity. Three National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been deployed for the operations. In the aftermath of the crash, the Ahmedabad airport has been temporarily closed, and all services have been suspended, according to officials. The Prime Minister has spoken with the Civil Aviation Minister to assess the situation. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident. A team from the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) is on its way to Ahmedabad. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is also expected to arrive in Ahmedabad soon.
