World Malayalee Council moves to new leadership; Dr. Isaac John Pattaniparampil appointed as Global Chairman, Baby Mathew Somatheeram as President.

The World Malayalee Council (WMC) has stepped into a new chapter as the newly elected global office bearers for the 2025–2027 term officially took charge at a ceremony held at the Corniche Hotel in Sharjah. The new leadership team is headed by senior journalist and social activist Dr. Isaac John Pattaniparampil. With over five decades of journalism experience in the UAE, Dr. Isaac is a widely admired figure who has inspired generations. As the newly appointed Global Chairman, he brings with him a wealth of experience, deep knowledge, and unwavering commitment to the expatriate community. Currently serving as the Managing Editor of Khaleej Times, a leading English daily in the Gulf, Dr. Isaac is recognized as one of the most influential Indian journalists in the region.

Joining him is Baby Mathew Somatheeram, a prominent figure in Kerala’s tourism sector and Chairman of Somatheeram Resorts, who has assumed charge as the new Global President. The new leadership is expected to further energize and strengthen the WMC. Dr. Isaac, who has previously served as Global Chairman, President (2012–2018), Global Ambassador, and Advisory Board Chair, has played a crucial role in building WMC’s global presence. Under his leadership, the Council aims to expand its operations and influence across 78 provinces in 30 countries. Baby Mathew Somatheeram, the new Global President, is widely acclaimed for his contributions to Ayurvedic tourism and sustainable hospitality. With previous service in various capacities within the WMC, he brings a blend of business acumen and social commitment.
His leadership is expected to enhance the organization's engagement with youth, entrepreneurs, and cross-border development initiatives. Other key appointments include Moosa Koya (General Secretary, Al Khobar), Thomas Chellath (Treasurer, Dallas), and Johny Kuruvila (Global Goodwill Ambassador, Muscat), along with several prominent and emerging leaders committed to WMC's founding values. Dr. Shashi Nadakkal (Kollam) took charge as Vice President (Administration), further strengthening the Council’s leadership team.
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by many distinguished guests including former Kerala Home Minister and KPCC President Ramesh Chennithala, veteran diplomat Ambassador T.P. Sreenivasan, former Kerala Additional Chief Secretary P.H. Kurian, and Kerala MLA Sanjeev Joseph. Sudhakaran Office bearers from WMC provinces across different continents also took the oath, reaffirming their commitment to unity, service, and global empowerment. The successful coordination of the event was led by the WMC Middle East leadership team: Chairman Santosh Kettath, President Vineesh Mohan, Secretary Rajeev Kumar, Treasurer Judeen Fernandes, and Vice President Thomas Joseph.
