Richa Inspires Young Swimmers With Golden Touch

Aryav Bharat was just days short of his first birth anniversary when his mother excelled in World Police Swimming A grand birthday present in advance.And,for Richa Misra it was her first international meet as a mother. Richa from Delhi, an Asst Commandant with CRPF, has won five gold and five siver in the World Police meet held in Birmingham, Alabama,US last week.

Richa who skipped the last National Games in Uttarakhand, after having won a record number of medals in National Games came back in the National Police Meet. Her achievement in Birmingham, Alabama was spectacular .She won gold in1500m freestyle,800m freestyle, 200m individual medley,4x50m freestyle relay, 4x50m medley relay and silver in 400m freestyle, 100m butterfly,4×50 mtr freestyle mixed relay,4×50 mtr medley mixed relay and open water 2 miles Richa had won 49 medals including 29 gold in National Games,a record indeed. She was the best woman athlete in 2002,07,11 National Games.Her latest podium finish was in 2022 with a siver.In 2023 she could finish only fourth.

With three national records still in her name(200m butterfly,800m freestyle and 400m individual medley) Richa at 40 is an inspiration for the youngsters.Let's hope she will be back in the next National Games to complete the half century of medals.All the best Richa.
