Lt. Governor Aruna Miller Leads Maryland Delegation to Florida for AI Exchange

Gainesville, FL. –
As Maryland strengthens its role as a global leader in cybersecurity, technology, and artificial intelligence (AI), Lieutenant Governor Aruna K. Miller led a high-level state delegation to the University of Florida’s HiPerGator AI computing facility.
As part of a collaborative exchange, Maryland leaders learned more about the successful integration of AI into higher education, workforce development, and economic growth. The delegation also explored best practices for a responsible and ethical AI strategy that will strengthen public institutions and help solve global challenges.
“The Moore-Miller Administration is committed to making Maryland a national leader in AI innovation,” said Lieutenant Governor Aruna K. Miller. “We are bringing together our brightest minds and boldest ideas to build an AI future that is inclusive, ethical, and beneficial to all Marylanders.”
The delegation included cabinet members, state officials, and leaders from Johns Hopkins, Morgan State, the University of Maryland, and UMBC. Together, these institutions are leading breakthroughs in AI, quantum science, life sciences, and engineering, fueled by strategic investments in top talent and cutting-edge infrastructure.
"The remarkable advancements in AI taking place in Maryland highlight the critical need for a statewide approach and robust computing facilities,” said Maryland Higher Education Secretary Sanjay Rai. “These resources are essential to fully realize the potential of current investments and propel Maryland to the forefront of AI innovation."
