Havens of the ultra-wealthy in America; list of the 50 richest suburbs released.

According to a new GOBankingRates report, the suburbs of New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maryland, and Virginia rank among the wealthiest communities in the United States. These states continue to dominate the top spots on the list. For the second year in a row, Scarsdale, New York, retained the No. 1 position, with an average household income of $601,193 and home values exceeding $1.2 million.

Close behind is Rye, New York, where the average household earns $421,259 and home prices approach $1.9 million.

New Jersey’s Tenafly, Summit, Westfield, and Ridgewood all secured places in the top 50. In Connecticut, Greenwich stood out with household incomes near $300,000 and home values surpassing $2.4 million. Near Washington, D.C., McLean, Potomac, Bethesda, and Vienna also made the rankings, known for their luxury estates and high-profile residents.

The five wealthiest suburbs in America were identified as Scarsdale, NY; Rye, NY; West University Place, TX; Los Altos, CA; and Alamo, CA.

The study was based on income data from the U.S. Census Bureau and home value data from Zillow’s Home Value Index. Only metro-area suburbs with at least 5,000 households were considered.
