Two sisters, one recipe; from grandmother’s culinary craft to a ₹10-crore brand.

Two sisters from Bengaluru, Ramya and Shweta Ravi, have transformed their grandmother’s traditional donne biryani recipe into a thriving food brand. Launching RNR Biryani in November 2020 with just ₹5 lakh and a single cook, the sisters started as a small cloud kitchen. Within 18 months, they recorded a turnover of ₹10 crore.
Their brand pays homage to their grandmother’s signature dish — a green-hued biryani made with short-grain rice, mint, and tender meat, served in a leaf pouch. RNR Biryani quickly won the hearts of Bengalureans, leading to 14 cloud kitchens and their first dine-in restaurant in Jayanagar.
Recognised by Swiggy as the Best New Brand of 2020, RNR Biryani today serves not just its iconic biryani but also dishes like chicken ghee roast, mutton soup, and traditional desserts. What began as a tribute to a grandmother’s love has now become one of Bengaluru’s most successful food stories.
