Infosys partners with Cornell for hospitality research
Bengaluru, Feb 2: Global software major Infosys
Ltd is partnering with Cornell University in the US for high quality
research in hospitality industry.
"As part the agreement with
Cornell University, we are joining its school of hotel administration's
centre for hospitality research advisory board to understand problems
clients in hospitality industry face and design industry research," the
company said in a statement here Monday.
The outsourcing IT major
will also work with the centre's partners to make the research relevant
to the industry's needs and participate in judging It's annul industry
relevance awards, which recognise faculty research at the school.
"The
hospitality industry is experiencing technology-driven disruptions,
forcing providers to find new ways to engage with customers and reinvent
their core business," Infosys vice-president for life sciences and
services Manish Tandon said.
As the scale at which the industry
operates is challenging, requiring partnering between the industry and
academia, the company will provide high-tech solutions in the
hospitality industry and talent at the school's research centre.
"We hope to identify the problems and define solutions that can reinvigorate the industry," Tandon noted.
Lauding
the initiative, Cornell's associate dean Michael C. Sturman said
Infosys' business solutions operated at the nexus of hospitality and
leisure industry's transformational efforts to blend technology with
personal service.
Founded in 1922 as America's first collegiate
course of study in hospitality management, the New York-based Cornell
school is recognised as the world leader in the domain and provides
management instruction in hospitality disciplines, educating the next
generation.
