Taiwan plane crash: Data analysis shows 'Mayday' call
Taipei, Feb 6
Analysis results from the
TransAsia Airways flight that crashed Wednesday showed a "Mayday" call
and engine failure a minute before the blackboxes stopped working,
Taiwan's Aviation Safety Council (ASC) said Friday.
Flight GE235,
en route to Kinmen from Taipei with 53 passengers on board, crashed in
the Keelung river Wednesday after its wing clipped a taxi on an elevated
freeway 10 minutes after takeoff.
Rescuers Friday morning recovered four more bodies from the Keelung River, raising the toll to 35, Xinhua news agency reported.
Eight people are still missing two days after the accident. There were 15 survivors.
The
findings come after authorities analysed the plane's two flight data
recorders, or "black boxes", and voice recordings recovered from the
plane after it crashed.
The ASC said a preliminary report about the occurrence will be announced in the next 30 days.
