New Delhi, Feb 10
Frenzied victory celebrations erupted Tuesday all across Delhi as AAP supporters burst crackers, beat drums and danced as the party headed to a victory in the Delhi election.

The biggest celebration was on at the AAP headquarters at East Patel Nagar in west Delhi where thousands of Aam Aadmi Party activists as well as supporters cheered every time the party won a seat.

Many waved AAP flags and others held photographs of party leader and former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal.

The AAP led in 43 seats and the BJP in 11 and the Congress in 3 seats as officials Tuesday counted the votes polled in the 70-member Delhi assembly election.

Aam Aadmi Party leaders Manish Sisodia and Somnath Bharti, who were ministers in the Arvind Kejriwal government, forged ahead of their rivals, election officials said.

BJP's chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi and Congress veteran A.K. Walia also forged ahead of their rivals.

Exit polls have predicted a win for the AAP, which ruled Delhi for 49 days until Kejriwal resigned as chief minister in February 2014.

Earlier, Kejriwal tweeted: "All the very best Delhiites. Do pray. Prayers are very powerful."

Over 67 percent of the 13.3 million electorate voted Saturday.
"All the very best, Delhiites," said AAP leader and former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal Tuesday ahead of Delhi vote count.

"All the very best Delhiites. Do pray. Prayers are very powerful," tweeted Kejriwal.

Over 65 percent of the 13.3 million electorate had exercised their franchise Feb 7.
AAP leader Yogendra Yadav indicated Tuesday that his party was headed for a victory in the Delhi assembly election, saying "David likely to overcome Goliath".

"This may be a historic day!" he tweeted. "The (Narendra Modi) juggernaut likely to halt. David likely to overcome Goliath. Hope lives again."
