Prime Minister Modi congratulates Kejriwal
New Delhi, Feb 10
Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday called up and congratulated Aam
Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal and assured him support from
the central government.
"Spoke to Arvind Kejriwal and
congratulated him on the win. Assured him centre's complete support in
the development of Delhi," Modi tweeted Tuesday.
The prime minister's message came as AAP appeared racing towards a massive victory in Delhi.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Tuesday congratulated AAP leader Arvind
Kejriwal for his party's huge win in Delhi and said it would introspect
the reasons for its own defeat.
"We accept the mandate of the
people," BJP's Delhi unit president Satish Upadhyay told the media. "As
the party's Delhi leader, I accept moral responsibility for the defeat.
"Clearly, somewhere we made a mistake in understanding the people's mood.
"We
will have to analyse the reasons why we lost so badly," he added. Asked
who was to blame for the BJP's dismal showing with the party tipped to
win less than 10 of the 70 seats, he said: "We will take collective
responsibility."
