Bengaluru, Feb 12 : Tata Technologies Ltd Thursday announced that it would set up a global engineering centre model for Singapore Aero Engines Services Ltd to jointly offer a range of services in the global aerospace sector.

"The centre will provide engineering services for equipment harmonisation, improvements in workforce efficiency and turn-around time optimisation in enterprises worldwide," the Pune-based Tata group company said in a statement here.

The multi-year deal envisages the Tata firm to provide an expert team for designing ground support and ground handling equipment, process engineering and technology optimisation for the British Rolls Royce Trent engine types to be overhauled at the Singapore partner's facility.

"Through the model, we will leverage Tata's expertise as an engineering partner and technology consultant to develop engine and component repair capability," said the Singaporean company's chief executive Paul Inman.

In the aerospace sector, as meeting customer demands with high reliability and faster delivery are crucial, the Singaporean firm will focus on building quality and reducing costs with the help of Tata.

The 14-year Singaporean firm, which has a tripartite joint venture between SIA Engineering Company, Rolls-Royce plc and Hong Kong Engine Services, has overhauled about 2,000 aero engines for wide body aircraft since its inception in 2001.

Tata Technologies supports clients in 27 countries worldwide through engineering services outsourcing, product development IT services and product lifecycle management solutions.
