Hyderabad, Feb 13 :  Software exports from Hyderabad are expected to register 13 percent growth to touch Rs.63,000-64,000 crore during the current fiscal, a senior official of Telangana government said Friday.

Telangana IT, Electronics and Communications Secretary Harpreet Singh said the sector was expected to add 20,000 employees during the year. Currently 3.2 lakh people are working in IT/ITES companies.

The IT/ITES exports from Hyderabad were Rs.57,000 crore or roughly $10 billion during 2013-14, accounting for 12 percent of total software exports from the country.

According to officials, Hyderabad is at number two position among the cities in terms of software exports. With a share of 31 percent, Bengaluru is at first place.

State Information Technology Minister Tarakarama Rao recently said his government was determined to make Hyderabad the best IT destination in the country.

The National Association of Software and Services Companies (Nasscom) said in September last year that the exports from Hyderabad poised to grow to $50 billion by 2025.

Harpreet Singh said the state government had taken up several initiatives to further boost the sector. He said T-Hub, country's biggest technology incubation centre, was coming up in Hyderabad.

The government was in process of getting a consultant for the Information Technology and Investment Region (ITIR) project in Hyderabad, he told reporters after announcing the details of the 23rd edition of annual summit and awards of Hyderabad Software Enterprises Association (HYSEA), scheduled here March 11-12.

Ramesh Loganathan, president, HYSEA, said the body honour its members for their major achievements in exports, productivity, product development, and best practices in corporate social responsibility.

The annual summit this year will focus on design. It will bring together designers, creators, entrepreneurs and friends together to build momentum and opportunity around their unique entrepreneurial identity by celebrating the achievements of the design community in India.
